HOW DOES IT WORK?

Each of the Labs in this Module have been carefully curated to work together like a lego set - each one building on the tools that were learned in the one before. By the time you have completed this Module, not only will you have fully explored the Story you want to tell, but you will have the guides and tools to finish your Script. If you haven't already *wink.

    The name says it all. 5 x 90 minute guided writing sessions. Beefy lectures. Uncover your story and get writing!

  • 2. WRITING THROUGH THE CHANGE 1:
    Explore Your Story

    Now that you're warmed up: 10 x 90 minute guided writing sessions. Get deep into the core of your story, the complexity of your characters, and the clarity of your structure. Push forward into new understandings of your craft, your stories, and yourself.

  • 3. WRITING THROUGH THE CHANGE 2:
    Keep Writing

    Let's keep going. It builds upon that work in WTTC1 and delivers new Timed Writings, new Meditations, new Lectures, and concepts to open up your work. This Lab teaches you how to mine your writings for Hot Coals and use them to bring aliveness to your work.

  • 4. WRITING THROUGH THE CHANGE 3:
    Write Your Scene

    You've done the deep exploration work. Now it's time to take that first step: Write Your Scene. Focusing on 10 levels of the Mise En Scene, Joan will guide you through how to use these structural guideposts to write a scene from your script.

  • 5. EPISODIC

    We are living in a Golden Age of TV. Structurally Television is a whole different ballgame. Using a case study of Amazon's Transparent, Joan will walk you through how that hit show was created, using the tools of The Technique™.

  • 6. OEDIPUS

    Are you are interested in how meaning is brought to bear through plot actions? Do you want to tell visceral, sexy, elegant, pierce you to the core stories that change your life and call your audiences to truth?
