HOW DOES IT WORK?

Each of the Labs in this Module have been carefully curated to work together like a lego set - each one building on the tools that were learned in the one before. By the time you have completed this Module, you will be able to walk into rehearsal and onto set with pure confidence; in your ability to work with actors, to collaborate with crew and execute your vision.

  • 1. THE CORE:
    FEELING, ACTION & JOURNEY

    Step one is to study the Core:

    Feeling: Solidify the World of your Film.

    Action: Learn tools to hone a rock solid story structure.

    Journey: Identify the 5 Key Scenes of your Script so you can land them on the screen!

  • 2. DIRECTING 1 SERIES:
    DIRECTING FEELING, DIRECTING ACTION & DIRECTING JOURNEY

    Get practical application of The Technique™ in this 3 part Series.

    Take the tools you learned in The Core, and learn to use them in the rehearsal space and on set with Actors and collaborators!

    Work efficiently, deftly and get your vision communicated clearly so that it lands on screen!

DIRECTING 2 MODULE FLOW

  • 1. DIRECTING 2 SERIES:
    The 5 Point Journey

    Each Lab in this 5 Part Series covers the staging and shooting of one of the 5 Key Scenes of the Emotional Journey of your Film:
    The Set-Up, Point of No Return, Crisis, Evolution, The End.
    At the end of Series 2, you will have step by step process to land all the emotional beats of your story = the key to making your vision land on screen.

  • 2. SCENE STUDY

    Practice makes perfect! Utilizing scenes from classic plays and student material, this is a drill down on how to get a scene on its feet, using the tools of The Technique™.

  • 3. WRITING THROUGH THE CHANGE 4:
    Direct Your Scene

    A final drill down Lab to reinforce all that you have learned in the Directing Modules. Using scenes randomly selected from the participants, Joan reveals how to use blocking, actions, pace, and other levels of the mise en scene to bring your directing skills to LIFE!
